Let your feelings guide you to a better feeling place!

I am so grateful to have learned how to let my feelings be my guide.  To have learned how to be happy, no matter what is going on around me, is the greatest gift I have received.  It would give me even more joy to pass that gift on to you.

It is possible to be happy!  You can experience joy and passion, even in tough times.

If you watch the news or read the newspapers - or even talk to the neighbour over the fence - you will often feel weighed down by the sad news and tough times people are facing.  Maybe you are one of those people finding the going hard at present.

Try to shift the focus just a bit.  You can't go from despair to joy in one jump, but you can feel a little better by talking (or even thinking) "I feel so guilty" or "I feel so unworthy".  Now that is going to sound strange to you, but give it a try.  Obviously you don't want to stay in a frame of mind of guilt or unworthiness, but this is a journey, through better feeling thoughts and then better feeling thoughts until you reach a state of hopefulness and then positive expectation and then appreciation.  Don't get stuck on the journey.  You have to keep moving through the journey until you get to a good feeling place. 

Many of us move from feelings of depression to feelings of anger or blame and then think 'I shouldn't be thinking these thoughts' and we slip back to depression.  The trick is to keep moving to a better feeling thought and then another better feeling thought and then another...

It is okay to feel the feelings of revenge!  It is not okay to get stuck in those feelings and act on them.

It is okay to feel disappointment!  It is not okay to beat yourself up with that feeling.

It is okay to feel irritated and impatient!  It is not okay to stay in that feeling place for an extended period of time.  I give myself about 30 seconds.  You could be a little more generous but not too much.

It is so much better to feel happy.  Even better to feel joy.  Still better to feel ecstatic.  And these wonderful feelings are what you are holding yourself back from if you are in a less good feeling place.

Remember that you have control over your thoughts and therefore you have control over how you feel.  It is a choice.  Sometimes you might need some help to let go the negative feelings but I really encourage you to put some energy into it.  You can feel so much better!

Techniques such as Emotional Freedom Techniques can help you shift your negative feelings very quickly.  You can move from fear to hopefulness in minutes.  If this can happen so easily why would you choose to stay in a place of fear?  The only reason I can think of is not knowing the possibility of such easy change.  Now you know.  You can’t un-know.
